The third metrologist in our lineup of experts is John Vecsi – Engineering Technician at Mesa’s Butler, New Jersey facility. John was born in New York City, raised in Allendale, New Jersey, and now resides in Suffern, New York. John attended both Johnson & Wales University and Bergen Community College. He also gained some of his mechanical skills from Universal Technical Institute (UTI) from which he graduated in 2003 with a degree in automotive technology.
John’s hobbies tie in with his technical and mechanical expertise. He is an avid car enthusiast and enjoys tinkering with computers and various electronics.
For the last five years, John has worked on Mesa Labs’ ultra-low-flow ML-800-3 systems. He was hired six years ago to work exclusively on the ML One systems, and continues to provide calibration services on these units, as Mesa is committed to continual support for our customers.
John now deals in all aspects of Mesa’s calibrators, from assembly, repairs, calibrations, and troubleshooting. He even schedules testing and manages the Gravimetric testing schedules. John performs all of Mesa’s in-house testing and calibrations on our lab standards and lab masters, annually, and sets up all of the tests, records the data, and verifies that they are working according to Mesa’s lab procedures and standards.
John recently had an interesting window into how Mesa’s calibrators can be used. During a visit to a client in Ottawa, Canada, John witnessed the customer using our calibrators in an industrial environment. John stated that “it was really cool to see a government agency checking for different types of emissions from automobile exhaust using high-end machinery (including Mesa’s ML One)”.
