The interconnections and procedures followed when using gas flow measurement instruments are critical to obtaining accurate flow measurements. Errors can be introduced from:
- Interactions between flow sources and flow measurement instruments
- Interconnecting plumbing
- Thermal instabilities
- Pressure variations
Mesa Laboratories piston provers are designed to minimize these effects.
Connecting volume is the gas volume between two flow measurement locations. To obtain accurate measurements this volume should be kept as small as possible.
A detailed explanation of connecting volume and recommended maximum connecting volume or connecting tubing lengths can be determined by reading our Application Note: What You Should Know about Connecting Volume.
